30 Sunday in ordinary time

“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”
He said to him,
“You shall love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your mind.
This is the greatest and the first commandment.
The second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

The commandments are simple and the scriptural passages need no lengthy expiation. The truth though is that they are no longer considered valid in this today’s world. Today it is each as their own king, and clemency towards neighbor only if one sees fit. It no longer is striving to fulfill these commandments, but instead only to meet the minimum requirements of man law. It is a new society that leaves one stunned in silence. And this is freedom?
