Blessed

Standard

One of the features of the Visitation is the number of times the word blessed is used. It is used  by Elizabeth in addressing Mary: “Blessed art thou among Women” and “Blessed is the fruit of thy womb.” Elizabeth husband, Zechariah also uses this word Blessed in his Canticle: “Blessed be the God of Israel, he has come to his people to set them free.” These blessings are common to Jewish culture, and Jesus will recite in his ministry one of his most memorable blessings, the beatitudes. In Judaism the blessings are known as Berakhot and form an essential part of that Religion. They can be recognized by the words they begin with, they begin with the word barukh meaning blessed. They also signify that all blessings come from God. Read about it here:
