Jesus said to his disciples:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.

Shalom, the Hebrew word for peace is derived from the root shalam encompassing wholeness or completeness and restitution. It means more than freedom from war, or conflict. Shalom also means , health,  welfare, safety, soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. It is a blessing and is used as a way of saying hello and goodbye. In looking at Shalom as tranquility of freedom from war, it also carries the meaning of not just freedom from these, but also an overcoming of the obstacles to peace. Shalom is not something that passively happens, it is pursued and desired. It is the ultimate goal or posession. It might even be the best definition of the Messianic Age, the Kingdom of God.It is the Lamb beside the Lion
